Locate the hole underneath the doorknob shaft.
How to remove old front door handle.
Here s how i did it.
Removing a handle with exposed screws 1.
Undo the two mounting screws holding the doorknob in place.
Hold the doorknob as tight against the interior mechanism as possible and slip your flathead screwdriver beneath the lever.
Loosen the mounting screws with a screwdriver.
The door handle will now slide off.
My front door knob was broken and i couldn t open the door from the inside or outside.
Here is the handleset i bought.
If any screws are exposed during this process remove them to release the lock and remove it from the door.
On most modular through the door knob sets the screws are visible in the decorative faceplate on the side of the door that faces into.
To remove the dead bolt and latch bolt unscrew their faceplates located on the door s inner edge.
Straighten a paper clip and insert it into the hole.
I had to fix it.
Push the tip of a narrow screwdriver into the hole.
Once the doorknob is back in the door go back to that same notch from when you removed the knob.
Apply a bit of pressure to the paper clip to trigger a release button inside the hardware.
You should see a tiny slot or hole.
If not rotate the faceplate until the underlying screws are accessible and use a phillips head screwdriver to remove them.
Check for exposed screws on the inside of the door.
Push the lever in the opposite direction from what you used to remove the knob.
Slide the cosmetic faceplate away from the door.
Remove the old entry set by taking out the mounting screws that secure the interior knob and locking hardware to the exterior handle and lock cylinder.
Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door.
Tug on the knob and it will slide right off.
